Summer holiday trip 2007: Exhausted on Jungfraujoch

I had to become 32 until I finally managed to travel to the Jungfraujoch, also called as “Top Of Europe” in tourist literature… After having spent the first part our summer holidays in August 2007 in the southern Itialian part of Switzerland, we made our way up to Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, which reveals a breathtaking view to the “big three” Eiger (3970 m / 13026 ft), Mönch (4107 m / 13475 ft) and Jungfrau (4158 m / 13642 ft). From Grindelwald, we took one of the very first trains in the morning which brought us in around two hours all the way up to Europe’s highest altitude railway station on Jungfraujoch, at 3454 m (11333 ft). The most important stretch is the 7 kilometres / 4 miles long tunnel through the rock of the Eiger and Mönch. Two intermediate stations, Eigerwand and Eismeer are situated in caverns blasted from solid rock. Both have panorama windows giving absolutely breathtaking views deep into the Alpine world. On top of Jungfraujoch, there is a tunnel from the railway station to the Valais side, which reveals a breathtaking view of the high mountain area, including the Great Aletsch Glacier. The very brave one take the chance to walk to the Möchsjochhütte, said to last about 30 minutes, but it definitely took us at least double amount of time, because breathing in such high altitde is quite hard as you can see in this video… Please also see my previous videos about the Jungfrau region, including a breathtaking 360° panorama view (

Mix of whistling high-speed trains in France: TGV Haute-Picardie train station on LGV-Nord rail line. Champagne-Ardenne TGV train statio on LGV-Est rail line. Each TGV (gray-blue) train set & Thalys (maroon-gray) is 200m long, two power cars and eight carriages. Eurostar (yellow-white) is ~400m long, two power cars and 18 carriages. So you can calculate the speed if you have time stopper. 19 dec. 2009 (from my Eurotrip-9) soundtrack: 1) Airbase – Theme From The Rock [remix] 2) William Orbit – Adagio For Strings [Paul Oakenfold mix] 3) The Doors – People Are Strange [Infected Mushroom Remix] 4) Infected Mushroom – Franks
